Walk the footsteps of this stranger: Plight of the Pangolin
Who would have thought that one has to pay a price for being exceptional? Of all the 6,400 species of mammals we have, pangolins are the only ones adorned with scales. Nick-named the ‘walking artichoke’, a pangolin has a delightful way of moving and curls into a ball when threatened. However, its distinctive scales and naïve disposition are fueling their poaching, making them the highest trafficked mammals in the world. They have become the victims of human superstition and icons of the illegal wildlife trade.
‘Walk the Footsteps of a Stranger’ is a triptych of accordion books alongside other fun collaterals that give an idea of this wonderous creature, the myths and fabricated stories around them and feature the sheer atrocity behind the illegal wildlife trade. One cannot care about something that they’ve failed to understand in the first place and little about things that don’t directly pertain to us. Even if one does not have a soft spot for nature, this project intends to provoke them to contemplate the boundaries of human desires.

Ideation
Book covers
In the beginning, I wanted to make three separate accordions with three book covers that would be displayed together as a triptych. I later merged them into one book because the reader had a probability of getting incomplete information if they only picked up one book.

Accordion Book 1
Makes One Wonder

Accordion Book 2
The price you pay for being exceptional

Accordion Book 3
Human attrocity shows no bounds
